Fluorocytosine is also called 5-Fluorocytosine, white or white crystalline powder. The inhibitory effect of 5-flucytosine ON FUNGI IS due to its entry into the cells of sensitive fungi, and under the action of cytosine deaminase, the amino group is removed and the anti-metabolite 5-fluorouracil is formed. After Chemicalbook, 5-fluorouracil deoxynucleoside and thymidine nucleoside synthetase were inhibited, and the transformation of uracil deoxynucleoside into thymidine nucleoside was blocked, affecting DNA synthesis. It has good inhibitory effect on Candida, Cryptococcus and Trichoderma. It also has effect on some Aspergillus, as well as the mycospores and bottle fungi that cause skin mycosis.
Fluorocytosine is the main intermediate in the preparation of capecitabine. Capecitabine can inhibit cell division and interfere with RNA and protein synthesis. Capecitabine is an anti-metabolic fluoropyrimidine deoxynucleoside carbamate drug that can be converted into 5-FU in vivo by Chemicalbook. Capecitabine is mainly used to treat colorectal tumors, colon tumors, pancreatic tumors, metastatic breast cancer and other tumor diseases.

Flucytosine has high antibacterial activity against Cryptococcus spp. and Candida spp. and has some antibacterial activity against staining fungi and a few Aspergillus spp. The antibacterial effect on other fungi are poor. It is an antibacterial agent and has bactericidal effect at high concentration. Because primary or secondary resistance to flucytosine is common, flucytosine is often used clinically in combination with other antifungal agents (often with amphotericin B).
The drug is a water-soluble nucleotide analogue and is well absorbed orally. It can enter the infected abdominal cavity, joint cavity and atrial fluid, and can cross the blood-brain barrier. The drug is widely distributed in liver, kidney, heart, spleen and lung tissues in concentrations greater than or equal to contemporaneous blood concentrations. The concentration of the drug in inflammatory CSF can reach 50%-100% of the blood concentration in the same period.
