Sulfamethoxazole, chemical name is 4-amino-N-(5-methyl-3-isoxazolyl)benzenesulfonamide, is an organic compound, chemical formula is C10H11N3O3S, white crystalline powder, odorless, Slightly bitter in taste, almost insoluble in water, soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide test solution or ammonia test solution. Clinically, it is mainly used for urinary tract infection, respiratory system infection, intestinal infection, biliary tract infection and local soft tissue or wound infection caused by sensitive bacteria.

Application&Function

Indications
1. Acute simple urinary tract infection caused by sensitive bacteria;
2. Combination with trimethoprim can treat otitis media caused by Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae and other Streptococcus which are sensitive to it;
3. Nocardiosis stellaris;
4. Adjuvant drug for the treatment of falciparum malaria resistant to chloroquine;
5. Combined with pyrimethamine to treat toxoplasmosis caused by Toxoplasma gondii;
6. The second-choice drug for the treatment of cervicitis and urethritis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis;
7. The second-choice drug for the treatment of chancroid caused by Haemophilus ducreyi;
8. Secondary drug for the treatment of neonatal inclusion body conjunctivitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis;
