Dextromethorphan is a central cough suppressant that primarily inhibits the cough center in the medulla oblongata.
This product is a dextral isomer, which exerts a central antitussive effect by inhibiting the cough center of the medulla oblongata. Its antitussive intensity is equal to or slightly stronger, and has no analgesic effect. The therapeutic dose does not inhibit breathing. Oral absorption is good, takes effect in 15-30 minutes, and the effect can last for 3-6 hours. The concentration of the prototype drug in the plasma is very low.
Its main active metabolite, 3-methoxyphorphine, has a high concentration in plasma, with a t1/2 time of 5 hours.
