At present, clindamycin hydrochloride is mainly used clinically to treat infections caused by Gram positive cocci and various anaerobic bacteria, to treat joint, bone marrow, respiratory, and skin soft tissue infections, as well as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, pneumonia, and various infections such as acne, gynecological inflammation, endocarditis, empyema, etc. Acne vulgaris is a common skin disease in clinical practice, and its causes have been studied. It is mainly infected by aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, among which Propionibacterium acnes is the anaerobic bacteria. According to various data, the above pathogenic bacteria are all within the range of clindamycin antibacterial spectrum. Using clindamycin gel to treat acne vulgaris can achieve a cure rate of 93.3%; 2% Clindamycin Hydrochloride Cream (Oil in Water Type) can be used to treat vaginitis. It has the advantages of good efficacy, no irritation, and high local drug concentration, and can treat bacterial vaginitis. Clindamycin hydrochloride is easy to dissolve, has a high distribution coefficient in the body, has few adverse reactions, and is less affected by daily diet. It can be made into tablets, injections, liniments, gel, vaginal effervescent tablets and other dosage forms. However, the biological half-life of the drug is short, about 3 hours, so it is used 3-4 times a day. In order to reduce the frequency of administration, maintain the stability of blood drug concentration, improve patient compliance, and enhance treatment efficacy, there have been reports of sustained-release formulations.
