Minoxidil is an oral medication used clinically to lower blood pressure, also known as long-acting drugs, piperidine diamine, antihypertensive drugs, and minoxidil. It belongs to the potassium channel opener and can directly relax vascular smooth muscle. It has a strong small artery dilation effect, reducing peripheral resistance, vasodilation, and blood pressure, without affecting volume vessels, thus promoting venous return. At the same time, due to reflex regulation and positive frequency effects, it can increase cardiac output and heart rate, but does not cause orthostatic hypotension. Used clinically for the treatment of refractory hypertension and renal hypertension. It can also be used for severe hypertension with poor effect on other antihypertensive drugs, but it needs to be combined with diuretics to avoid water and sodium retention. Combined with β receptor blockers, it can increase its efficacy and reduce adverse reactions.
