Mainly used for urinary tract, intestinal and ear canal infections caused by sensitive gram-negative bacilli and staphylococci, such as urethritis, cystitis, dysentery, enteritis, otitis media, etc.
Pipemidic acid's antibacterial activity and antibacterial spectrum are stronger and broader than nalidixic acid, but not as good as fluoroquinolones (norfloxacin, etc.); bacteria resistant to nalidixic acid may still be sensitive to this product. Pipemidic acid is indicated for sensitive bacteria (mainly Gram-negative bacilli, such as Escherichia coli, Pneumoniae, Aerobacteria, Indole-positive and indole-negative Proteus, Serratia, Typhoid, Shigella , Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc.) caused by urinary tract infections and intestinal infections. The minimum inhibitory concentration of this product against Pseudomonas aeruginosa is 12, 5~50μg/ml, which is better than carbenicillin; generally synergistic effect can be obtained when combined with gentamicin, oxybenicillin, etc., but it is best to have combined drug sensitivity Test as a basis. Pipemidic acid has also been used to treat biliary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, trauma infections, mastitis, keratitis, etc. caused by sensitive bacteria, and has achieved certain results.
