Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that has high affinity for the angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1).Telmisartan interferes with the binding of angiotensin II to AT1 receptors in vascular smooth muscle and thus inhibits the vasoconstricting action of angiotensin II.
