Neomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. The product has good antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus (methicillin sensitive strain), Corynebacterium, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus and other Enterobacteriaceae bacteria, but has poor activity on Streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Enterococcus and other bacteria in each group. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, anaerobic bacteria, etc. are resistant to this product. The bacteria have partial or complete cross resistance to streptomycin, neomycin, kanamycin and gentamicin. The systemic use of neomycin has significant nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity, so it is only used orally or locally.

 

Application&Function

Indications: Oral administration can be used for: 1. Intestinal infections. 2. It can also be used as an auxiliary treatment for intestinal preparation before colon surgery or during liver coma. Neomycin is not suitable for the treatment of systemic infections.
