Clavulanic acid can broaden the antibacterial spectrum of antibiotics intolerant to β-lactamase, such as penicillin G, ampicilin, amoxicilin or cephalosporin II (cephalotin), and enhance the antibacterial activity, and it can produce β-lactamase. -Endophthalaminase bacteria produce obvious synergistic effects, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Influenza bacillus and Fragile bacillus, etc. However, there is no synergistic effect on amoxicilin or ceftizidine-sensitive bacteria in combination with clavulanic acid.
Clavulanic acid alone is not effective. The enzyme is irreversibly inactivated by being firmly combined with β-lactamase, which protects penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics that are not resistant to enzymes from being destroyed, so that the latter enters the site of action more and exerts its antibacterial effect. Overcome bacterial resistance to improve curative effect.
