Phenylephrine HCl is a naturally occurring alkaloid chemical compound found plants and extracted for use as a supplement.  Phenylephrine hydrochloride is used in the prevention and treatment of spinal anesthesia, general anesthesia, the application of chlorpromazine and other causes of hypotension, also used in supraventricular tachycardia and pupil dilation, etc..(R)-(-) Phenylephrine hydrochloride is a selective agonist for α1-adrenergic receptors.

Application & Function

Phenylephrine has obvious vasoconstriction effect. Increase peripheral vascular resistance, increase systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The effect is weaker than norepinephrine, but long-lasting. It has no direct cardiac excitatory effect and can reflexively slow down the heart rate. No resistance in continuous use. This product also has mydriatic effect, quick action, short duration, and does not increase the intraocular pressure and does not cause paralysis.
It is suitable for raising blood pressure and treating infection, toxic shock and anaphylactic shock. It is also used to control episodes of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia.
