Cetilistat only acts on the gastrointestinal tract. By inhibiting the lipase of the gastrointestinal tract, it prevents the hydrolysis of triacylglycerol into free fatty acids and Monoacyl glycerides, reduces the absorption of dietary fat (triacylglycerol) by the intestinal mucosa, and promotes the elimination of fat from the body.
