Neomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. This product has a good antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus (methicillin-sensitive strains), Corynebacterium, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus and other Enterobacteriaceae bacteria, and has a good antibacterial effect on various groups of Streptococcus and pneumonia. The activity of cocci and Enterococcus is poor. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and anaerobic bacteria are resistant to this product. Bacteria have partial or complete cross-resistance to streptomycin, neomycin, kanamycin and gentamicin. Systemic neomycin has significant nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity, so it is limited to oral or topical application.
