Granisetron hydrochloride is a potent and highly selective peripheral and central nervous system 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. It is the second generation 5-HT3 receptor antagonist marketed after ondansetron.
As a new potent antiemetic, granisetron is more effective than conventional antiemetics, especially when combined with dexam* and metoclopramide. In addition, granisetron has the advantages of easy administration, long maintenance of antiemetic efficacy and good tolerability, and has a broad prospect of clinical application.
