Vasopressin tannate increases water reabsorption by improving the permeability of renal collecting duct epithelial cells, produces antidiuretic effect, can also contract peripheral blood vessels, and cause intestinal, gallbladder and bladder contraction. The unit of antidiuretic activity of vasopressin was determined by the pressure booster test of anesthetized animals.

1. For the treatment of central diabetes insipidus.
