Function
Benazepril is a precursor drug that hydrolyzes in the liver to the active metabolite Benazepril. The latter is a non-sulfhydryl-containing angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, which can inhibit the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, resulting in decreased vascular resistance, decreased aldosterone secretion, and increased plasma renin-activating renin activity. It can also inhibit the degradation of bradykinin, reduce vascular resistance, and reduce blood pressure. In heart failure, benazepril can dilate arteries and veins, reduce peripheral vascular resistance (afterload) and pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (preload), thereby improving cardiac output and exercise tolerance of patients, so it can be used in the treatment of congestive heart failure.
Application
1, for all types of hypertension. For the treatment of moderate and mild hypertension, the curative effect is the same as that of captopril, enalapril, nifedipine, nirendipine, propranolol and other drugs with normal dosage. The treatment of hypertension is a second-line drug.
2. Congestive heart failure as an adjunct treatment for patients with congestive heart failure who do not respond well to digitalis and/or diuretics (NYHA grades II-IV).
