Vincristine sulfate is an organic compound, formula C46H58N4O14S, used in biochemical research and cancer research.
Vincristine is a kind of biological Chemicalbook base extracted from the periwinkle of the oleander family periwinkle.  It is a mitotic inhibitor and is widely used in chemotherapy to treat a variety of cancers, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia, Hodgkin's lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and small cell lung cancer.

Application & Function

1. It is a kind of natural alkaloid sulfate, isolated from plant vincristine, and has anti mitotic and anti-tumor activities.  Vincristine irreversibly binds to microtubule and spindle proteins in the S phase of cell cycle, interfering with the formation of mitotic spindle, thus inhibiting tumor cells in the mid-term.  Depolymerization of microtubules may interfere with the metabolism of amino acids, camp and glutathione.
2. It is a natural plant anti-tumor drug, which is used to treat acute leukemia and malignant lymphoma, small cell lung cancer and breast cancer.
3. Widely used in cancer research, multi drug inhibition, monoamine oxidase inhibitors.
