 Minocycline hydrochloride is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, effective against tetracycline sensitive or resistant Staphylococcus aureus;It has a slightly stronger effect on Staphylococcus green, Actinomycetes astratus, Dipneumococcus pneumoniae and bacteria-like microorganisms, Neisseria gonorrhoeae than other tetracyclines, and has a similar antibacterial strength to tetracyclines on Escherichia coli, Proteus, Salmonella, Shigella, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas.Commonly used its hydrochloride, for yellow crystalline powder, odorless, bitter taste, can cause metamorphism in case of light.Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, easily soluble in alkali metal hydroxides or carbonate solutions.

2. Minocycline hydrochloride is a salt prepared from minocycline, taking advantage of the two basic dimethylamino groups which protonate and readily form a salt from solutions. The hydrochloride is the preferred formulation for pharmaceutical applications. Like all tetracyclines, minocycline shows broad spectrum antibacterial and antiprotozoan activity and acts by binding to the 30S and 50S ribosomal sub-units, blocking protein synthesis.
