Cefixime is an oral third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic suitable for the treatment of respiratory, urinary and biliary tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria.Cefoxime is highly stable against β-lactamase produced by Gram-negative bacilli. The antibacterial activity of Cefoxime against Gram-negative bacilli is stronger than that of the first and second generation cephalosporins. The antibacterial activity of Cefoxime against Gram-positive bacilli is less than that of the first and second generation cephalosporins.At present, cefoxime drugs approved by the State Food and Drug Administration have many dosage forms, such as tablet, capsule, dispersible tablet, dry suspension and granule, all of which are prescription drugs.

Cefixime is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat infections caused by bacteria. These include infections of the:
1. Ear (otitis media caused by Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis,and S. pyogenes.)
2. Nose, sinuses (sinusitis), Throat (tonsillitis, pharyngitis caused by S. pyogenes )
3. Chest and lungs (bronchitis, pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae)
