GeMeprost is a derivative of synthetic PGE1. It is stable, with high selectivity and few adverse reactions. It can strongly contract uterine smooth muscle, has little effect on gastrointestinal smooth muscle and blood pressure, and has the effect of
softening and dilating cervical canal. Its potency is stronger than PGF2α. It causes the unpregnant uterus to contract more strongly than the earlier uterus.
