Gentamicin is one of the few thermally stable antibiotics and is therefore widely used in culture medium preparation. The independently developed broad-spectrum antibiotics in China are one of the great technological achievements since the founding of the People's Republic of China. It began development in 1967 and was successfully identified at the end of 1969, named "Gentamicin", meaning to celebrate the Ninth National Congress and the greatness of the working class. Gentamicin (gentamycin) is an alkaline compound extracted from the fermentation medium of monospore genus of Actinomycetaceae, which is a commonly used aminoglycoside antibiotic. Mainly used for the treatment of bacterial infections, especially those caused by Gram negative bacteria. Gentamicin can bind to bacterial ribosome 30s subunit and block bacterial protein synthesis.

Application&Function

1. Suitable for treating neonatal sepsis and sepsis caused by sensitive bacteria.
2. Suitable for treating respiratory tract infections, peritonitis, biliary tract infections, etc. caused by sensitive bacteria.
3. Suitable for treating urinary and reproductive system infections caused by sensitive bacteria (excluding initial treatment of simple urinary tract infections).
4. Suitable for treating skin and soft tissue infections, burns, and other infections caused by sensitive bacteria.
5. Oral administration can be used for intestinal infections or preparation before colon surgery
6. Intramuscular injection of clindamycin or metronidazole in parallel can be used to reduce the incidence of infection after colon surgery.
Intrathecal injection can serve as an adjuvant treatment for severe central nervous system infections (acute purulent meningitis, ventricular inflammation) caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Staphylococcus.
8. Gentamicin can also be used to treat listeriosis.
9. Gentamicin eye drops are suitable for conjunctivitis, keratitis, dacryocystitis, blepharitis, tarsal plate adenitis, etc. caused by coagulase negative and positive staphylococci, pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, pneumonia bacteria, other gram-negative bacteria and gonococci.
