Benzene sulfonamide, benzene sulfonamide, formula C6H7NO2S, molecular weight of 157.18. White acicular or flake crystals. Soluble in hot alcohol, ether, slightly soluble in water. Flammable in case of open fire or high heat. When decomposed by heat, toxic gases such as nitrogen and sulfur oxides are released. Used as intermediates in organic synthesis and medicine. It can be prepared by amination of benzene sulfonyl chloride.
