Acetaminophen is an antipyretic and analgesic drug that selectively inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins in the hypothalamic thermoregulatory center by inhibiting cyclooxygenase, leading to peripheral vasodilation and sweating to achieve antipyretic effects. Acetaminophen is mainly used for fever, headache, and relief of mild to moderate pain caused by colds, such as joint pain, muscle pain, neuralgia, migraine, dysmenorrhea, cancer pain, and postoperative analgesia.
