Acetaminophen is an antipyretic and analgesic drug that selectively inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins in the hypothalamic thermoregulatory center by inhibiting cyclooxygenase, leading to peripheral vasodilation and sweating to achieve antipyretic effects. Its antipyretic intensity is similar to aspirin; By inhibiting the synthesis and release of prostaglandins and other substances, it increases the pain threshold and exerts analgesic effects. It belongs to peripheral analgesics, with weaker effects than aspirin, and is only effective for mild to moderate pain. This product has no significant anti-inflammatory effect.
Acetaminophen is mainly used for fever, headache, and relief of mild to moderate pain caused by colds, such as joint pain, muscle pain, neuralgia, migraine, dysmenorrhea, cancer pain, and postoperative analgesia. It can also be used for patients who are allergic, intolerant, or unsuitable for the use of aspirin, such as those with chickenpox, hemophilia, and other bleeding disorders (including patients receiving anticoagulant therapy), as well as patients with mild peptic ulcers and gastritis.
